Before you grab your pole and run out to enjoy a good day of fishing, knowing where you want to go is probably a good starting point.  After all, if you want to get the right catch, deciding where you can find it is going to be mission critical.  When it comes to Galveston Bay or all over Galveston County, Harris County and surrounding counties, you’ll be happy to know that you won’t have a hard time finding quality fishing.  There are lots of prime spots to choose from.

Dickinson Bayou

A great fishing spot that can be enjoyed onshore or out on the water by hiring a fishing charter boat and launching it from your choice of 3 intersects.  You can find a unique selection of catch here due to the saltier water that comes for the hot, wet summers.  These include: ladyfish, redfish, croaker, piggy perch and maybe even a speckled trout.  During the winter season, you can catch bass and catfish, just to keep you coming back for more.

Galveston Island State Park

A full park, this is a great spot if you’re looking at enjoying a few days of fishing.  You can fish from the shores if you want and you’ll be able to make sure of a fully-stocked and conveniently fish cleaning station, too.  When you need a break from fishing (even if it’s just for a few minutes), you can also enjoy hiking, swimming, geocaching and more.

Sea Rim State Park

Another option for a full service fishing experience, this park will rent out fishing gear if you don’t want to deal with lugging everything with you in order to do so, but of course that comes with an expense.  There is also a lot of sightseeing to be enjoyed and is a great place for bird-watching, too.

Lake Nassau Park

A popular spot specifically for fishing, Lake Nassau Park is a great option for those who specifically want to try fishing with Lake Nassau and Clear Creek.  Both offer up superior catches and can help the angler learn the differences between one and the other.
